ACTION REPAIR AND REGULATION |

|
Action and keyboard department
Extensive work is aimed at the best possible functioning of
the repaired action. Even minimal differences in the parameters
of the replacement parts can make a correct regulation and
touch-weight impossible. For this reason, before repair, measurements
and calculations are made in order to establish the properties
and regulation measurements of the parts to be repaired or
replaced. Each component is scrutinised before installation
and the mobility of the centre-pins tested. Our preference
is the use of new original components for optimal results.
However, if requested, other parts can be employed if they
meet the technical requirements. This is why we have not included
the parts in the repair calculation, to allow you to make
your own choice. Over a period of many years, we kept asking
dealers and manufacturers for materials and parts which, at
that time, were not available. These firms endeavoured to
meet our requests and now offer these parts as standard stock.
In addition, we sometimes make our own parts.

Gluing the
hammers
The best possible tone of the test-hammer is decisive
for establishing the final striking line of all hammers.
|
Touch-weight
The keys are regulated to give a touch- weight of 52g, or from 47g to 52g. The up-weight measures 22g.

Converting
sticker actions to capstans
The conversion to a modern capstan system has the goal
of achieving the correct regulation parameters, and the
correct down and up-weight. The main tasks are: adjustment
calculation, installing new lever heels in place of the
removed stickers, and fitting capstans in a pre-set line. |

Constructing
new dampers
The best damping results are achieved by installing our
individually selected new dampers. The type and the form
of the felt and the dimensions of the damper heads are
specially selected for each instrument. |

Inserting
metal bushings into the damper levers
When worn wooden threads prevent a tight-fitting damper
wire, the usual practice is to replace the lever-wire-flange,
which does not always match the old damper levers. Thus
we recommend new metal bushings for old damper-lever-wire-flanges
to save the cost of new damper-levers. |

Constructing
and installing new action rails
In the case of damaged action rails we can make new wooden
or rolled sheet brass rails, drill them accordingly and
install. |

Installing
a sostenuto system
Includes: installing the sostenuto rod and fittings; constructing
a 3-pedal lyre case, lyre connections, pedal rods and
sostenuto pedal lever; regulating dampers and sostenuto.
An additional charge will be made for new damper levers,
if the old ones are not fitted with sostenuto tabs. |
